Since 2006, Alexandria Rugby has trained and mentored over a thousand Alexandrian students, and helped build a tradition of teamwork, integrity, and resilience in our community.
The AR ethos is simple: Anyone who wants to play rugby should be able to play rugby. As with rugby clubs all over the world, AR provides a culture of inclusivity and respect, bringing together a diverse cross-section of Alexandrians all playing under the same team banner.

As the fastest growing sport in America, rugby provides ample opportunities for players to build their skills and take their passion to the next level. Former AR players have gone on to play for Alexandria City High School, Gonzaga College High School and the Fort Hunt Rugby Club – the latter two being among the top ten rugby programs in the country.

The sport doesn’t end with high school. Our alumni have earned scholarships to play at some of the best college/university programs in the country, including University of California at Berkeley. Some AR alumni have even gone on to play for the Old Glory Academy team, a program put on by the professional D.C. rugby team, and have been invited to USA National Rugby Team (the Eagles) development camp. But no matter how far these players have gone in their rugby careers, they all started right here in Alexandria.
